STEARIC ACID

APPLICATIONS

In the rubber industry, derivatives of stearic acid are used in the mixture of substances that are added to rubber to control flexibility or other properties of the final product.
Some stearates are used by the polymer industry as lubricants, antistatic agents, and release agents. Stearic acid used in the manufacture of candles improves appearance, brightness, durability, and mold release. In crayons, they provide better-dispersed inks, better absorption, and retention on paper, among others.
